DESCRIPTON OF CONSTRUCTION FILES FOR THE THAI 1970-80-90 MERGED FILE
This is a datafile of the 1970 .02 sample of the census data and is located on the CSDE Workstation in the directory: /seafert/thailand/data/census70/TH70POP.DAT (to work with the data users should uncompress the file). This is also the source file used by the program th70fortran.txt in the creation of the matched woman-child-husband dataset TH70STD.DAT. Documentation about the census data are located in the 1970 Population Census of Thailand .02 Sample - Master File: Data Documentation and Codebook. The files contains 772,251 unweighted individual records. Each person selected for inclusion in the sample file has been assigned a weight factor that includes adjustments for smapling fraction by geographical stratam and for age-sex composition of the municipal and non-municipal areas. Data include individual demographic information as well as household characteristics.

Each person selected for inclusion in the sample file has been assigned a weight factor that includes adjustments for smapling fraction by geographical stratam and by municipal and non-municipal areas. The overall sample of 1.2 percent of the micros data is a combination of a 2 percent sample of the total population of Bangkok and all other municipal areas in the country and 1 percent sampel of all non-municipal areas. The sample selection is also adjusted for household type (collctive vs. private households) and gender composition.Data include individual demographic information as well as household characteristics (110,436 households).
